How long have you been working for Scapta?
I've been working for over 4.5 years now! My adventure at scapta started in January 2017.
How did you come into contact with Scapta?
Alex, one of the owners, contacted me via LinkedIn during a previous job. I wasn't immediately looking for something new, but we stayed in touch. A while later, I was feeling the itch for a new challenge and decided to go to the job fair at Corda Campus. I wasn't entirely convinced I belonged there, as IT – what was I supposed to do with that… Nevertheless, I persevered, and soon I saw Scapta proudly displayed. I approached them and got in touch with Nathalie. She told me there were no openings in marketing, unfortunately! However, some time later, Alex contacted me again, and that's how things started rolling.
What does your role entail exactly?
Marketing! I am responsible for the entire marketing approach within Scapta. A year ago, I received assistance, and my team has grown since then. It's really great! During that time, I was able to focus more on the communication around our Scaptify app. We were able to roll that out internationally, which even Microsoft noticed. The app has now been sold to them. Wow, a great reward for our hard work!
Was it an ‘instant perfect fit’ or did it require some adjustment?
It felt right immediately, but that doesn't mean it was easy. I really needed time to get up to speed. IT always felt like a foreign language to me. Many technical terms went right over my head. It definitely took me 6 to 12 months to fully get the hang of it. Persistence pays off! And I'm very grateful for all the opportunities I've been given!
Do you get a lot of freedom in your job?
For me, it’s really simple—absolutely, 100%! I have a tremendous amount of freedom to further develop my role. I can always discuss any ideas with management, and I can also brainstorm with my colleagues.
And what about work-life balance? Does Scapta also help make the private lives of Scaptans easier?
Yes! Our work-life balance is a perfect fit for me, and Scapta is consciously working towards that.
10 months ago, I became a mom. For a moment, your life is turned upside down, and of course, you doubt how this new life (literally 😉) will fit into your ‘old life’. I was given immense freedom and flexibility to combine it all. It's going better than I could have ever dreamed! There's a lot of trust, and that's great. In the meantime, through Scapta, I have a cargo bike, which allows me to commute smoothly between home, work, and the daycare. Awesome, right?
Captain, what does that mean to you? When do you see that someone truly fits Scapta?
That's truly a feeling. You immediately sense it when someone is a perfect fit here. That is to say: being flexible, daring, and being on the same wavelength! Independence is really a must. A Scaptaan dares to say things, think outside the box, and go for it!
Why should other people choose Scapta? What makes the difference here?
The difference? Flexibility from all sides! But definitely also team spirit. Every third Friday of the month is Team-Up! A day full of fun activities, a great location, delicious food, and of course, the real Scaptans. But new projects and ideas are also shared. Precisely because we are a small group, it is often achievable for us. The big picture is right!
