It's here, we're cruising full throttle into the fourth and final quarter of this year! And you know what that means – it's time for a new release of Business Central, and this time it's BC23's turn!
With every major release comes a wave of anticipation, and BC23 does not disappoint. We have five brand new features on offer for you, and we can't wait to reveal them. So let's dive into what they have in store for us this time:
Advanced search
The search function is getting a major upgrade. Now, you can not only search for reports or lists via the search function but also specific tables for the information you need. You're in control because you can specify which tables you want to search. Imagine, you're in an editable field, like a customer name on an order, and you initiate the search function from there. Business Central will immediately populate that term into the search bar. This is a long-awaited feature that is now being added.
2. Improved navigation between orders, receipts, and billing documents
The ability to zoom in on quantity fields will be available in various documents within the sales and purchasing processes, such as sales order lines or purchase order lines. This will allow users to view and edit detailed information regarding shipped quantities, invoiced quantities, and returned quantities, depending on the specific documents and fields. Furthermore, there is an improved link between orders/returns and posted invoices and credit memos, allowing users easy access to these related documents from the original order or return document. This simplifies traceability and processing of shipped and invoiced quantities in the purchasing and sales process, even when multiple shipments are related to a single order.
3. Use allocation keys in the general ledger to distribute costs and revenues more efficiently.
This function allows users to set up allocations, effortlessly distributing amounts from one account to multiple accounts. All of this can be done based on various criteria, such as percentages, quantities, or fixed payments. The result? Streamlined division of costs and earnings across different versions, improving accuracy and reducing manual effort.
In short, this innovative feature enhances financial management capabilities within Business Central, with the speed and efficiency you need!
4. Respond faster to changes with Power Platform
With BC 23, it will be easier to configure a workflow in Business Central. With the upcoming upgrade, Microsoft is offering more templates that will support additional scenarios by default. This will allow Business Central users to automate more business processes, thereby increasing their efficiency and productivity.
5. Add existing table fields to your pages
With the enhanced field access feature in Business Central, you gain complete control over which fields appear on a page. In the upcoming update, you can select additional fields from the page's source table, including fields from table extensions, in addition to the standard displayed or hidden fields. Simply drag these fields to the exact locations on the page you desire and customize them to your preferences. Furthermore, you can tailor field access based on user roles, and these changes take effect instantly once configured for a user profile. This allows users to view or edit field values depending on the page context.
