People Blogs: Captain Riet Speaks

Who are the Scaptanen? That was a long time ago... it must have been somewhere in the 500s, the Scaptanen lived... Just kidding! The Scaptanen, that's our team! The Scapta family. Each one of them has a unique story with hidden (and not so hidden) talents. Wonderful people who share a passion. Our Scapta family is growing! Would you like to get to know them?

Hi, meet:

Riet Mondelaers 💁‍♀️

Always available for a brisk walk or a cozy evening with friends!

BI & Business Central Jack-of-all-trades 🐛

The first question seems straightforward: ‘What is your role within Scapta?’

Oh, that's not so simple, because my role is changing! I'm a Business Consultant for Business Central.. I analyze current business processes and research how we can implement and improve them in Business Central. I provide workshops on this, test custom solutions, and guide clients toward a successful go-live. Additionally, I also work as a Power BI Consultant, which involves creating reports after the go-live. Finally, I am also part of the internal product development team XPR365, where we develop apps that integrate with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Wow, that sounds like a lot! How are you currently dividing your time?

At the moment, the focus is more on my role as a BI consultant than as a Business Consultant.

How did you end up at Scapta?

When IT Solutions was acquired by scapta, I transitioned with them. Previously, I worked in Brussels, but the daily traffic jams and frequently canceled train trips started to get on my nerves. So, I began looking for a job closer to home and at a smaller company, as I realized this suited me better.

What is the project that you are most proud of from all your years at Scapta?

There are quite a few projects I'm proud of and that have really stayed with me, but if I have to choose one, it's definitely Formani. What makes this project so special? It's a Dutch company, and the people there are open and straightforward. It was a challenging project with many stakeholders and a large scope. I put a lot of time and energy into it, and when questions arose, they often came my way. It's nice that they specifically approach me for help.

Did you feel like part of Scapta right away?

Although I already knew my colleagues, it was a period of feeling things out and observing after the takeover, curious about how the new employers would approach things. But here I am, still part of the team, which shows it was a positive turn for me.

Is more done for group atmosphere within Scapta than within other employers?

At my previous employer, there were definitely efforts made for group atmosphere, but that group was much larger. Here at Scapta, it all feels much more personal because you know everyone. In larger companies, you often have more separate cliques, whereas here you are truly part of one close-knit team.

Do you feel that you still have a lot to learn and grow within your job?

Currently yes, and that's also positive! I'm currently upskilling in Power BI, and this came at the right time for me. I'm eager to learn and enjoy tackling new challenges. And of course, it's great that I can share this with my colleague Marco.

What characteristics do you think a future spaceship captain would have?

I think the person should be able to work independently and be self-sufficient. Additionally, it's important that he or she is social, down-to-earth, a team player, and enthusiastic, can take a joke, and occasionally feels like playing a more active game, considering our team-building activities.😉

If there's one quote that fits Scapta, what would it be?

We are not a team because we work together. We are a team because we respect, trust, and care for each other.
