Electronic invoicing is the way to go. Starting January 1, 2026, digital invoicing will be mandatory for all invoices between businesses, not just those to government agencies. An automated invoicing cycle offers numerous benefits, and more and more companies are adopting it as part of their ‘digital journey.’ Why shouldn't your organization miss out, and how can you efficiently switch within your Dynamics 365 Business Central...
Start with e-invoicing
It may not be a ‘must’ for your business yet, but it's still worthwhile to consider it now. Those who are already on board are clear. The benefits of electronic invoicing speak for themselves:
- More organized, faster, and less chance of errors
- Future-proof for future government obligations
- Safe and structured
- One solution for diverse administrative and accounting tasks
- Also easy for purchase invoices on paper or in PDF
- Simplifies international trade
- More and more companies are using and requesting e-invoices.
Back to the beginning
It must be said: electronic invoicing stems from a government idea, as a means to combat VAT fraud. This is not an unnecessary luxury, considering that the government in Belgium loses 4.6 billion euros in VAT revenue1 mist, within Europe that is just under 100 billion euros. The structured exchange of invoice information will therefore be mandatory in our country:
- For any company that invoices the government – from March 1, 2024
- For invoices between B2B companies – as of January 1, 2026
All eyes are on this Peppol framework, which allows companies to exchange e-invoices among themselves using different formats and according to a protocol. Access points give you access to the secure network for sending and receiving invoices.
Companies participating in the Peppol network benefit from a secure and efficient method of document exchange, without having to worry about the compatibility of different software packages, document security, or the many international government deadlines and requirements.

Increased billing from 120% for e-invoicing software and consulting
The House of Representatives recently approved a legislative amendment that encourages companies to switch to e-invoicing through a tax benefit.
Between 2024 and 2027, businesses can take advantage of an increased tax deduction of 120% for both e-invoicing software and consulting services. This applies, among other things, to subscriptions for software such as Billit and consulting services provided by experts.
